One Week To Go!!!!

I suppose I should start packing, huh?

Question - what should I bring to keep a 5 year old occupied for the 9 hours we'll be at the airport/on the airplanes? So far, I'm bringing paper, crayons, cd's, cd player, books. Can anyone think of something that's a real attention-keeper? 5-year-olds bore quickly and easily.

Of course I am being facetious, but what about sleeping pills? (No, don’t even consider it. When I was an army officer stationed in Germany, there was a woman who provided child care for the children of officers while we and our wives were attending official functions. She sometimes watched up to 20 or 30 kids at a time. So she doped the children—mostly infants—so she wouldn’t have to deal with them, which was a terrible thing to do.

What's wrong with finger cuffs? I think it's a great way for a kid to occupy time. And it keeps them from breaking things or touching germs.

Nobody likes my ideas.

You might go out and buy her something new to surprise her with when she is in her seatbelt on the plane....today I saw a set of cardboard bears that you can change clothes on...another idea might be a new drawing set or a package of new-fangled crayola markers....or a special snack.

You could bring everything in the house and the five-year-old would still get bored.

It is good to try to get something that she's never seen before, like Ruth Ann suggested.

How about a Mr. Wizard Chemistry set? You will be so entertained as Homeland Security entertains both of you for hours on end. Tell them LOWK gave it to her. Even he will see the humor in that...as he is strip searched by BUBBA. ENJOY THE TRIP! GIVE OUR BEST TO THE NON POSTING PREGGO!
